Preparation
- Peel the apples and cut them into 1/2-inch thick wedges.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, apple pie spice, and 4 tbsp of cinnamon.
- Transfer this mixture into a container with a lid, add the apple wedges, and shake to coat evenly.
- Remove the apples and set them aside, keeping the flour mixture.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla extract together.
Coating
- Dredge the apple wedges in the egg mixture, then return them to the flour mix and shake again for a second coating.
- In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and remaining 1 tbsp of cinnamon.
Cooking
- Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray.
- Place the apple wedges in a single layer, spray tops with oil, and sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mix.
- Cook at 350°F for 6 minutes.
- Flip the apples, spray again, sprinkle remaining sugar mix, and cook another 6 minutes.
Serving
- Serve warm with caramel sauce or powdered sugar glaze if desired.
Notes
These apple fries are best enjoyed fresh out of the air fryer. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for best results.
